My scalp itches after using minoxidil. What should I do?
See your prescribing doctor first to investigate the cause, and do not stop or change medications on your own. Scalp itching caused by minoxidil is often caused by irritation from solvents (such as propylene glycol) in the preparation or contact dermatitis. Doctors will evaluate whether it is necessary to adjust the dosage form or change the carrier; scalp care should not be arranged until the cause is clear and the situation is stable.
If you need daily maintenance after your scalp is in stable condition, pay attention to two points when choosing an institution: whether the provider understands your medication history before arranging services; whether the care is gentle and non-irritating to the scalp. Any adjustments involving medication should be returned to the prescribing physician for decision.
