Q06
Minoxidil has had limited results after six months. Will adding scalp care help?
Do not treat additional scalp care as a way to improve minoxidil’s results. First discuss the limited response with the prescribing doctor: is the medicine being used as directed, and has enough time passed to assess it? Topical minoxidil needs continued regular use, and its benefits gradually fade after stopping (Olsen 1987, PMID 3301926). Scalp care cannot resolve these issues.
Scalp care is for routine cleaning, comfort, and maintenance. We do not promise or imply that adding it will improve treatment results. Any care should follow your doctor’s instructions; if your scalp is uncomfortable, see the doctor first.
