Q12
I have a lot of dandruff. Can scalp care help?
Let’s first explain the division of labor: If you have recurring dandruff, it is recommended to seek medical attention first. Dandruff and scalp seborrheic dermatitis are often associated with Malassezia colonization, and there is sufficient evidence for treatment with medical lotions (such as ketoconazole) (Borda 2015, PMID 27148560); if switching shampoos has not helped, see a dermatologist rather than relying on more care services.
The anti-dandruff care in the location is positioned as an auxiliary to daily cleansing to help keep the scalp fresh and does not replace medical treatment. If the doctor has made a clear diagnosis and you only need daily maintenance, scalp care can be used as a cooperation, and the arrangement is based on the doctor's orders.
