Q17

My scalp is oily, itchy, and flaky. Should I see a doctor first?

It is recommended to seek medical treatment first. This group of symptoms is most common in seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, but allergies, fungal infections, etc. may also have similar symptoms, and dermatology is required to determine the cause (Borda 2015, PMID 27148560).

There are two situations: when there are obvious erythema, severe itching, or scalp damage, go to the hospital directly without maintenance; when the diagnosis is clear and the doctor thinks that only daily cleaning and maintenance are needed, maintenance can be arranged as a complement. When in doubt, seek medical advice first before choosing a location.
