Q23
Can I have scalp care while breastfeeding?
Breastfeeding is not an absolute reason to avoid scalp care, but the details need checking first. A responsible provider asks whether you are breastfeeding and how long it has been since delivery, explains the ingredients and restrictions of each service, and asks a doctor about anything uncertain instead of claiming that everything is suitable.
Absorption of topical ingredients through the skin during breastfeeding is limited, but some ingredients, including certain essential oils and high concentrations of salicylic acid, still call for caution. Follow a doctor’s assessment. Call ahead, explain that you are breastfeeding, and confirm which services are suitable before booking.
This page from FerriaMed Hair Care Center explains general scalp care and the limits of our services. The Hair Care Center provides nonmedical scalp care; it does not diagnose or treat disease or prescribe medication. Consult a doctor about health concerns, and follow the prescribing doctor’s instructions for medication. This content is not medical advice. Services and prices are subject to the current written information at each location.
