Does the microcrystal hair-growth service hurt or break the skin?
Truthful explanation: Microneedling and microcrystal procedures is a minimally invasive procedure. The endpoint of treatment may be needle-like spot bleeding or mild erythema. The bleeding usually stops within a few minutes. The pain varies greatly among individuals, and it is more obvious in those who are sensitive ("Techniques in the Evaluation and Management of Hair Diseases"). There may be temporary redness and spotty scabs after the procedure.
Current evidence: Microneedling combined with minoxidil is superior to minoxidil alone (Dhurat 2013, PMID 23960389); there is limited evidence for the efficacy of microneedling alone. Those with sensitive scalp and bleeding tendency should consult a doctor before making a decision. Please be cautious about institutions that are still urging you to do this without knowing clearly.
