Should I have a small-area test before scalp care?
If your scalp is sensitive or you have a history of allergies, ask for a patch test behind the ear or on a small area of scalp before care for the whole scalp. It can help reveal irritation or an allergic reaction. A responsible provider should offer this step.
If your scalp hurts when touched, have the cause checked first. Persistent pain calls for medical assessment before care. A patch test is a safety step, not an optional extra.
